MOTHER'S MILK AND NATURE'S HERBSBarbara J. Andrews, SAAB Member
Human babies are the only mammals not normally suckled (breast fed) by their mothers, thus getting the immunity and bonding that nature planned…
From mice to elephants, all newborns receive immune boosting ingredients in their mother’s milk as ordered by God, creation or whatever you believe in.
That’s because Nature is rarely wrong, especially when creating something vital to life. When it does make a mistake, nature “knows” and corrects or deletes it. Think about that… Nature learns from its mistakes. Humans should do likewise.
This is not to say working women should breast-feed their infant, but it is a critical reminder for modern mothers-to-be. Your grandmother will say there is no “formula” that can replace mother’s milk and the subliminal bonding that takes place. She is right on both points. You can prop a bottle and go back to your TV show but you and your baby will miss something you were “meant” to experience.
Grandparents often lecture on life today as compared to “back then.” Slow down and listen. You might learn something new, true, and that isn’t online…
Take herbs, as compared to today’s array of synthetic medicine. When is the last time your doctor mentioned Ginkgo biloba? Oh, you never heard of it??? Look it up. Ginko Biloba is an iconic "living fossil", a plant that has survived for over 270 million years and is still aiding human and animal health… but only for people who know about it…
Ginkgo biloba is as effective for upset stomach and wretched vomiting as any prescription medicine. It has been used for centuries – like many other natural medicines that are not patentable. That is the main reason “herbal medicines” are buried in most medical practices. No patent, no profit.
Garlic is an anti-inflammatory for bone/joint problems, also lowers blood pressure and it possesses antiviral and antibacterial properties.
St. John’s Wort treats to moderate depression but can interact with other meds.
Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea): Often used to reduce the duration and severity of the common cold, with studies that prove positive effects on upper respiratory infections.
Chamomile is widely recognized for its calming, anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic properties, often used for digestive issues and stress.
Peppermint Oil is a scientifically backed treatment for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and for soothing digestive issues.
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): Proven to be effective in promoting relaxation, improving sleep quality, and soothing minor skin irritations or burns.
Ginger is effective for nausea and vomiting (including motion sickness, morning sickness, and chemotherapy-induced nausea). It has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, making it useful for managing arthritis and muscle discomfort.
We can’t change commerce any more than we can go back to a time when we had time to learn things that actually made life safer, healthier and less stressful.
