Homeopathic Remedies For Surgery
Dorothy “Dot” Martin, AKC Group Judge
Arnica Montana 30C
for soft tissue bruising. Take one per day for a week before surgery. Stop the day before you go into the hospital..
Hypericum 200C
for damage to nerve endings. Since they may not allow you to have any water immediately prior to or following surgery, dissolve a pellet in water and pour over ice cubes or crushed ice and put the ice in your mouth.
The remedy will work thru the mucous membranes in the mouth and will reduce your need for as much pain medication. You can take it for pain afterward if you are hurting too much.
Hypericum 200C
It is also good if you slam your finger in a door or when having dental work done.
Phosporus 30C
Take before surgery to minimize bleeding during surgery. Do NOT take until all bloodwork has been taken just prior to surgery. The nurse will not be able to take a sample as well.
Nux Vomica 30C
If you are just feeling yucky and have nausea and are constipated from all the antibiotics and anesthesia. If you just have nausea, use the Ipecac.
Ipecacuanha 30X
for nausea, in case the anesthesia makes you sick.
Ledum Palustre 30C
Take 1 dose a day for three days following surgery. Puncture wounds - It will help all the places where needles were put into your hands and other spots. This is also good for being punctured by spiders, wasps, biting insects of any kind, nails, tacks etc.
Staphysagria
For knife-like cutting wounds. Helps cuts heal faster.
Symphytum 30C
For bone healing. Start 48 hours after surgery. Take 1 dose per day for 3 days then 2 X per week for 6 weeks.
Pyrogenium
This remedy is for infections where bacteria has gotten into the body from outside sources such as a dog bite, cat scratch, working in the yard, etc. This is where a wound is throbbing, painful and there are red streaks radiating from it.
Staphylococcinum 30C
Hopefully you won’t need this one. But, since hospitals sometimes give their patients Staph infections, Staphylococcinum will help send it packing if the Doctor says you have it.
Don’t take any remedy for more than 7 days in a row. Stop and go to a different one. Take a day or two break. You only need to take one pellet at a time but if you took all of a single remedy at one time it won’t hurt you. You just won’t have any more of that remedy.
Don’t take remedies all at the same time. Some remedies will stop others from doing their job. Allow about 20 to 30 minutes for a remedy to start doing its job.
To your continued good health.
