SOPHIE, READY TO SERVE

Serving Seniors:  Debbie DeStephen and her little toy fox terrier, Sophie, love to serve their local community.

Sophie has earned her canine good citizen certification (CGC) and loves to visit the nursing homes in her hometown as a therapy dog.

Sophie is a great ambassador for our breed. She makes friends wherever Debbie and her family takes her to.

Sophie has become a popular visitor and a true comfort to staff and residents at Jackson Ridge Rehabilitation Center (http://www.jacksonridgerehab.com) in Canal Fulton, Ohio. Thank you, Debbie for allowing your little Sophie to make such a contribution to your community!

In the Beginning:  Sophie has been going to Obedience Training since November 2014 (when she was 4 months old). She's completed her fourth 6 week session. She attends classes at Randall’s Dog Obedience — trainers are Jeff and Debbie Poland.

Debbie and Sophie started their next session in June. Debbie reports that she thinks Sophie believes she is the “Social Butterfly” of their obedience classes!

Both Debbie and little Sophie are doing additional training specific to Canine Good Citizen as well. “Sophie’s goal is to work towards her Advanced CGC – earning a CGCA Title! The training received at Randall’s Dog Obedience is wonderful!” (http://www.campbowwowmeow.com/training.html)

Future Activities:  Sophie also has tried her “paws” at Lure Coursing. While it was a new experience, it was a fun time according to Debbie and she believes Sophie has put in a request to have her very own course in the DeStephen backyard! Debbie continues to add to Sophie’s scrapbook to keep up with this wonderful little toy fox terrier’s accomplishments.

Sophie recently received her CGC certificate from AKC, and of course, Debbie has it framed and displayed. Way to go, Debbie DeStephen and Sophie!  To all that, little Sophie added her Dock Diving Championship.

Debbie and I hope this brief article will inspire others to do more with their amazing toy fox terriers! This breed has an incredible array of abilities, talents, and skills to enable them to participate in just about anything that may interest owners.
