"KOKO" THE GORILLA
An extraordinary primate shows more human qualities of kindness, nurturing and love than some humans.
Koko the gorilla, known for her sign language skills, died at the age of 46 in 2018. She became famous in the 70's when an animal psychologist, Francine "Penny" Patterson, started teaching her how to communicate through sign language. KoKo understood about 2,000 words and had a gentleness to her that was unexpected. Watch as she gently hold a small kitten with tender loving care and witness her sign language skills.
