I have been involved in the sport of dogs since I trained my obedience poodle
when I was in the fifth grade. I became involved in conformation with my first AKC Champion Siberian Husky in 1973.
Then came Smooth Fox Terriers; four home bred champions and going to England to visit my breeder, the incredible Linda Beak, and her world famous Newmaidley Fox Terriers.
While in England, I met my first Russell Terriers and in 1980 received my first Russell, Badger, deported for biting a minor member of royalty. I continued to show other breeds as the Russell's weren't recognized and didn't conform to the JRTCA standard.
When in 2005 I registered them with UKC, my dog Frayed Knot Spike finishing his Grand Championship
and in 2007 he became # 1 Top Ten by garnering more Breed points than any other Russell in the UKC history.
Accepted into the Miscellaneous Class in AKC, Spike became the first Certificate of Merit winner in AKC history. I have bred Spike and his family from dogs directly imported from England for over 30 years. He now holds titles in conformation, weight pull, obedience, Earthdog, coursing, and a Canine Good Citizen certificate.
I believe that dog sports and performance are as important to a breeding program as conformation titles.
