AKITA REFLECTIONS
Joni AAPLseed
On Sept 16,
2001 "Joni AAPLseed"
left the United States on the first leg of her world tour. Joni will not return
to the United States until the American Kennel Club, and/ or Akita Club of
America recognizes the American Akita as a breed of its own.
(12/04 Progress
In England) She will be
traveling all over the world as a goodwill ambassador, soliciting signatures of
supporters, which will be forwarded to the AKC, and ACA. Host families will take
Joni to local events, dog shows, etc. Postcards from all over the world sent
home will track Joni's progress. Souvenirs collected during the trip will be
periodically mailed home, and at the completion of her mission, Joni and her
treasures will be auctioned off at the first American Akita Nationals.
American Akita / Great Japanese
Dog International, a newly formed club, will oversee all of Joni's itinerary and
activities. Donations, letters of support, and requests for appearances should
be directed to joni@aa-gjd.com . Please understand that due to the volatile
nature of the split issue, Joni will be traveling under tight security, staying
only with host families known to support the American Akita to the fullest
extent.
Tracking of exact locations of
Joni's appearances will be at www.aa-gjd.com Photos, stories, and travel logs
will be posted there as they are received. Enjoy the ongoing saga of Joni, the
American Akita, visiting countries where she is accepted, while she waits
patiently for her country to give her the recognition she has earned during
development.
Her Japanese Akita brothers and
sisters have welcomed her with open arms. The American Akita is rare in many of
the countries that it is recognized in. Be sure to log on to monitor the travels
and experiences of Joni AAPLseed, sent with love and dedication by the American
Akita Preservation League (AAPL) www.americanakitas.com . Don't
let Joni stay away from home for too long…. Only you can vote to split the two
breeds in the United States, and bring Joni home for good.
