NATIONAL K-9 VETERANS DAY
Joe White contacted us in February 2009, asking for help in developing a nation-wide effort to honor K-9 veterans. Joe had already achieved the first K-9 Veterans Day in Florida. The NetPlaces Network agreed to help him seek national recognition for all military dogs.
Joseph White and Barbara J. Andrews agreed that Customs Dogs, Search and Rescue Dogs, Border Patrol Dogs, Police Dogs, and Secret Service Dogs will be included in this recognition.
The official K-9 Corps was created March 13, 1942 and it was agreed that March 13th is national K-9 Veterans Day.
Please join us in lobbying to establish K-9 Veterans Day as an annual tribute to all of America's military dogs. Either form, K9 or K-9 is equally correct and Joe's March 13th date and name choice, K-9 Veterans Day, avoids any objections one may have to dogs being included in Veterans Day which is celebrated Nov. 11th.
"To this day dogs are serving on our borders every day, on both land and sea, in fact, Coast Guard dogs helped to guard the beaches way back during WW II." - Joe White
Several other sites are capitalizing on Joe's vision and the backing provided by TheDogPlace.org. All are seeking donations but few offer any useful information. We reached out to each of them individually in 2015, offering to promote them in this section. We received no response.
We do not ask for money. We ask only that you join our lobbying effort if you are a member of any National Breed Club, officer of any local Kennel Club, or board member of any Dog Legislation group.
We believe, with your political support, we may be able to see introduction of National K-9 Veterans Day legislation by March 13th 2018. You and/or your organization will be given full credit and added to the public list of National K-9 Veterans Day supporters. Email K-9 Veterans Day

This Editor personally worked with Joe. His selfless devotion to the dogs and veterans he served was/is inspiring. As dog lovers, we can not allow Joe's vision of official recognition for K-9 Veteran's Day to become only a memory. His wife was unable to carry on after his death but TheDogPlace.org is dedicated to Joe's mission.
Veterans Day is November 11th and the NetPlaces Network asks everyone to stop and think about the animals who serve our country and protect our freedom. From carrier pigeons to military mules and service dogs, we pay tribute to K-9 Veterans Day and to its founder Joseph White.
To all the brave hearts who volunteer to serve this great nation (and to all the animals that are drafted), we thank you for your service.
We trust that 2017 will see the Veteran's Administration finally provide proper care and counseling for the men and women who gave their body parts, emotions and health to protect our freedom.
The NetPlaces Network was successful achieving passage of the Military Dog Retirement Act but we need your help to establish a national day of honor for the K-9s Veterans who served our nation.
