Consequences of Rescuing Star
Star and his sister were rescued from an awful situation. Star and his tiny sister were forgotten about in a house in London. I was contacted by the owner who loved them very much, but she had to face the hard fact that she couldn't manage to keep them anymore and was unable to care for their daily needs.
Star and his sister were left alone in the family home without basic care. Both dogs were left in a small cage covered over with curtains.
When I saw him, I found he loved to be picked up and cuddled. That's when he asked me to take him with me. I could see his sister walking around my feet in a 'John Wayne' fashion. I asked the owner if I could take them to the vet.
My vet team asked me to bring them in straight away, which I did. As I got to the vets and took the two little ones out of their carrier, people outside swarmed me, shouting at me for the condition of dogs. They thought I had been neglecting them. I cried "No!" and told them about the horrid situation I had just rescued them from... one of the ladies started to cry straight away.
It took the vet team an hour to do the health checks and they were shocked to know I had such two tiny Chihuahuas in such a malnourished state. Star and his sister were starving to death!
I explained to the vet the situation at their old family home, she wanted to call the police but I asked her not to. I had my Chihuahua community as support and their advise on how to rescue these little dogs.
The exam showed that Star will need surgery to remove a potential cancerous testicle and neutering, plus all their vaccinations. His sister had an emergency operation the very next day.
Unfortunately, Star will have to go for an operation soon and we do not have the money to fund it. Star is a brilliant dog, and with a little help, we could get him through the last few hurdles of his incredible journey. Any help would be amazing, all the donations will go to help with Star's Veterinary bills and any aftercare needs he may have.
We held an online Facebook Auction of donated pet items to help raise funding for Star and I've started a "Just Giving Fund" to help raise the money, I'm at 34% now and the page link will be good until December 2017 or when I reach 100%. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/HelpStar
