Fighting Bad Dog Legislation

Dear Friends in Dogs,

We have received a lot of feedback via our website regarding the mandatory spay neuter (MSN) issue in California. I am happy to report that 99% of the feedback has been in opposition to MSN!

We must keep up the fight in California and be sure to contact the Senate members of the legislature with our opposition to AB1634. We have the power if we all band together and do our fair share. I am listing the contact information for the Senate and hope that each one of you will send at least a letter saying...Please vote no to AB1634!

It is imperative that we all work together, including all organizations, individuals and kennel clubs. Please ask your families and friends in California to send their opposition to AB1634!

(BELOW) SAMPLE LETTER TO FAX:

The Honorable Senator_____________

Address

Subject: Oppose Assembly Bill 1634

Dear Senator __________:

I am writing this letter to express my opposition to Assembly Bill 1634, which would require the mandatory spay/neutering of all dogs and cats at 4 months of age. The only exception would be if an owner applied for a permit, and they would have to "qualify" for that.

Laws that require mandatory spay/neutering are almost impossible to enforce and some pet owners will simply not license their pets, as has been done in other communities where this type of law has failed. As a responsible dog owner, I am concerned that people who want to buy a pet might end up getting one from unscrupulous individuals or pet stores, where there has been no health testing of parentage or socialization.

Why should responsible pet owners be punished by this bill? We are not part of the problem but we know that irresponsible owners will still operate and cause the same problems they have caused over the years.

I ask that you support responsible dog ownership and oppose AB 1634!

Thank you.

Respectfully,

your name, address, phone number
